Jaguar Journey Welcome Weekend
At Jaguar Journey Welcome Weekend, new first-year students will be introduced to campus life at Texas A&M University-Victoria. The weekend is packed with activities that will help you acclimate to campus and acquire important information about services designed to help you succeed. Jaguar Journey will be your best chance to meet other incoming students and learn what it means to be a Jaguar. Don’t miss it!
Jaguar Journey is held in Victoria the weekend before classes begin for the fall semester and is required for all first-year students. Incoming first-year students do not have to register for Jaguar Journey. Check-in for Jaguar Journey Welcome Weekend will occur during housing move-in for residential students and prior to Jaguar Journey Kickoff for commuter students. More detailed information about schedule and times will be released closer to August.
Transfer students are welcome to engage in and learn about campus by participating in Jaguar Journey. If transfer students are interested in participating, they should email the Orientation Office to register.
What to Expect
Jaguar Journey
Mark your schedule for August 19-23, 2026 to attend Jaguar Journey Welcome Weekend! Jag Journey will kickoff on Wednesday, August 19 after housing move-in. Students should expect to join their new teammates for a weekend filled with information, fun, and some friendly competition.
There is no online option for Jaguar Journey Welcome Weekend. Students can sign-up at New Student Orientation to confirm receiving emails about participation instructions for Jaguar Journey in advance to their A&M-Victoria email, in addition to them being provided during the housing move-in process. Students who did not sign-up ahead of time, can register during housing move-in at the Jaguar Journey check-in table or ahead of Jaguar Journey Kickoff if they are a commuter student.
Wednesday
You will meet your Orientation Leaders, as well as other incoming first-year students in your group and begin to create new relationships with your fellow classmates. You will also meet our university’s mascot, jaX the Jaguar. An overview of Jaguar Journey will be provided and you'll learn about how your group can be crowned Jaguar Journey Champions!
Thursday
You will continue to build upon and create relationships with your classmates through different activities. This is a day that you’ll have the opportunity to ask your Orientation Leaders questions that will help you prepare for week one of class. You'll also be provided with a variety of tools needed to be successful academically and socially at A&M-Victoria.
Friday
On Friday, you will complete required trainings and spend time with other students foraging connections to last all year! Later in the day you'll compete against other groups in fun activities and have the opportunity to find where your classes are on campus. Closing out the day will be a block party hosted by the Orientation Leaders and is a great chance to hang out and relax after a busy two days!
Saturday
Wrapping up the competition with Rep Your Group, a showcase created by each team showing off your different personalities and teamwork! Following the fun of Rep Your Group we will wrap by announcing the winning team of Jaguar Journey and passing out great prizes. Have a relaxed afternoon and join your new friends for dinner!
